Visit the many restaurants and cafes right beside the lake after a relaxing day at the beach. The historic town of Ridgeway is a 5 minute drive around the corner, with plenty of delicious bakeries and restaurants as well as some very cool, hip shops to wander around in. Live music can be heard at the Sanctuary on certain nights or visit Brimstone, their local Craft Brewery and Gastropub (all ages welcome). There is also the popular Ridgeway Farmer’s market open in the spring, summer and fall, so pick up some local fruits and vegetables for dinner or check out their live events and music.

Once a rail line, the old right of way has been converted to a multi-use recreational path connecting Port Colborne with Fort Erie some 30 kilometres to the east. The 24 km path is straight and easy with virtually no elevation change. Along the Friendship Trail, there is easy access to scores of golden sand beaches on the shores of Lake Erie. The route parallels the north shore of the lake as it passes through farmland, villages, and quiet residential areas.
With stunning views of the Buffalo skyline and a nature trail within easy hiking distance, the Friendship Trail offers options for enthusiasts of all sorts.

Experience the wonder of Niagara Falls! Just a half hour drive from the cottage and you are in the City of Niagara Falls and on the popular strip "Lundy's Lane". The main attraction is, of course, the falls, a series of three separate waterfalls that includes the iconic Horseshoe Falls, widely regarded as a natural wonder of the world.

Experience the heart-pounding sights and sounds of a fort under siege at Old Fort Erie.
